Integrating the "Keio Household Panel Survey" (KHPS) and "Japan Household Panel Survey" (JHPS) to create the "Japan Household Panel Survey" (JHPS/KHPS)
The Panel Data Research Center at Keio University has integrated the questionnaires and usage application/report forms of the “Keio Household Panel Survey” (KHPS) and the “Japan Household Panel Survey” (JHPS), and changed the name of the integrated survey to the “Japan Household Panel Survey” (JHPS/KHPS). Although the content and structure of data have not changed, future surveys will be conducte and presented to the public as the “Japan Household Panel Survey"(JHPS/KHPS). Below is an explanation of the integrated “Japan Household Panel Survey"(JHPS/KHPS). (Please note that there have been no changes to the "Japan Child Panel Survey” (JCPS).)
1.Struture of the “Japan Household Panel Survey” (JHPS/KHPS)
The “Japan Household Panel Survey” (JHPS/KHPS) is a combination of the former “Japan Household Panel Survey” (JHPS) and “Keio Household Panel Survey” (KHPS), which were previously conducted and managed as separate surveys. The characteristics of the surveys, such as the data structure and samples, are as follows. Please note that the former “Japan Household Panel Survey” (JHPS) and “Keio Household Panel Survey” (KHPS) have been abbreviated to “JHPS Data” and "KHPS Data,” respectively.

□Sample Distribution and Survey Subjects
The KHPS has been conducted since 2004, and the JHPS since 2009. The KHPS added new cohorts in 2007 and 2012. The survey subjects of the KHPS include men and women aged 20 to 69, while those of the JHPS include men and women aged 20 years or above. Although the sampling populations overlap, ultimately, there is no overlap of KHPS and JHPS respondents.

□Survey Items
In the past, the JHPS gathered data mainly on employment, income, education, and health/healthcare themes, while the KHPS gathered data mainly on employment, consumption, income, and housing themes. However, since 2014, the survey items have been standardized.
